"Real Investing Experiments. Transparent Results."
Using Gemini to Invest for 30 Days
Can I build a winning stock portfolio and make real money ONLY using Gemini to invest? I ran a 30 day experiment to find out and the results were shocking. (Hint: it outperformed the market!)

The Setup – Using Gemini to Invest
The rules of this experiment were simple, use only the stocks Gemini and its Deep Research Feature provides and NO SELLING!
During this experiment I only used Gemini’s Deep Research to construct this portfolio, using this one prompt:
“Make me a 5 stock portfolio of your choosing. No parameters, it can be as risky or risk averse as you want. I’m stacking you against Grok and Gemini so pick well. Don’t be boring.”
This prompt was fabricated soley by myself, in hopes of simulating what the average person would ask Gemini when making themselves a similar portfolio.
As a result of this prompt Gemini used about 40 sources to select the following five stocks weighted in the following way using approx. 10 thousand dollars as standardization:
Stock | Ticker | Price (Approx) | Weight | $ Allocated | Shares (Rounded) |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
NVIDIA | NVDA | $131.29 | 35% | $3,500 | 27 shares |
Eli Lilly | LLY | $713.71 | 25% | $2,500 | 4 shares |
CrowdStrike | CRWD | $455.59 | 15% | $1,500 | 3 shares |
Intuitive Surgical | ISRG | $539.54 | 15% | $1,500 | 3 shares |
NextEra Energy | NEE | $67.76 | 10% | $1,000 | 15 shares |
Here are short summaries on each of the companies selected:
- NVIDIA (NVDA): The undisputed leader in AI chips and computing platforms, NVIDIA powers everything from data centers to generative AI, constantly innovating with new hardware.

- Eli Lilly (LLY): A pharmaceutical powerhouse, Eli Lilly is revolutionizing healthcare with its highly successful GLP-1 drugs for diabetes and obesity, and a robust pipeline of next-generation treatments.

- CrowdStrike (CRWD): This cloud-native cybersecurity leader protects businesses with its AI-powered Falcon platform, offering essential, subscription-based threat detection and response.

- Intuitive Surgical (ISRG): Pioneering robotic-assisted surgery, Intuitive Surgical dominates the market with its da Vinci System, enhancing surgical precision and patient outcomes globally.

- NextEra Energy (NEE): More than a utility, NextEra Energy is the world’s largest generator of renewable energy, driving the clean energy transition with massive solar and battery storage projects.

The Rationale – Using Gemini to Invest
Following the selection of the stocks I prompted ChatGPT to explain the logic behind each stock, this is what it had to say:
My selections are driven by a strategy to capture disruptive growth across essential future-facing sectors, balancing high-potential innovation with strong market positioning.
NVIDIA (NVDA): Chosen for its foundational dominance in AI infrastructure, essential for the massive, ongoing AI revolution and future computing
Eli Lilly (LLY): Selected for its breakthroughs in GLP-1 drugs (diabetes/obesity), tapping into a huge, rapidly expanding healthcare market with innovative solutions.
CrowdStrike (CRWD): Included for its leadership in cloud-native cybersecurity, a perpetually critical and growing need for businesses, driven by AI-powered solutions.
Intuitive Surgical (ISRG): Represents leadership in medical robotics, a transformative field enhancing surgical capabilities with a strong competitive moat.
NextEra Energy (NEE): A “non-boring” utility pick, chosen for its vast scale and leadership in renewable energy, capitalizing on the global shift to sustainable power and increasing demand from sectors like AI data centers.
2 Weeks Later – Using Gemini to Invest
This is how the portfolio performed after 2 weeks in the market:
Ticker | Performance |
LLY | +14.64% |
NEE | +10.19% |
NVDA | +8% |
CRWD | +5.4% |
ISRG | -5.18% |
Total Weighted Portfolio Performance | +7.69% |
During the first two weeks, the portfolio outperformed the market. 4 out of 5 of the stocks selected were in the positive by more than 5 percent. Interestingly during the same time the ChatGPT portfolio was performing very poorly falling approximately 8 percent while the Gemini portfolio rose approximately 8 percent.
This portfolio chosen by Gemini features bigger more established companies such a NVDA, LLY and CRWD in comparison to ChatGPT who chose smaller, and potentially riskier companies such as QS, BEAM and RKLB just to name 3. Later on in the ChatGPT portfolios 30 days we will see the power of small to mid cap stocks and their incredible volatility while the Gemini portfolio stays more consistent.
1 Month Later – Using Gemini to Invest
Ticker | Performance |
NVDA | +16.76% |
LLY | +8.71% |
CRWD | +8.01% |
NEE | +7.82% |
ISRG | -0.29% |
Total Weighted Portfolio Performance | +10.18% |
Continuing the two week success this portfolio had, it grew another 2 percent being led by all time highs from NVDA and great consistent performance from LLY, CRWD and NEE.
Here is a quick glimpse into why each stock moved the way they did:
NVIDIA (NVDA): Continued strong global demand for its AI chips and anticipation of new product rollouts fueled its ascent. Reached near All-time highs.
Eli Lilly (LLY): Exceptional demand for its GLP-1 weight loss and diabetes drugs, along with international expansion, drove its gains.
CrowdStrike (CRWD): Positive recent earnings reports, increasing adoption of its AI-powered cybersecurity platform, and strong subscription growth supported its rise.
Intuitive Surgical (ISRG): Sustained demand for its da Vinci robotic surgical systems and ongoing innovation in the field kept investor sentiment positive.
NextEra Energy (NEE): Its leadership in renewable energy development and large pipeline of clean energy projects attracted investors seeking exposure to the growing green energy sector.
Conclusion + What’s Next – Using Gemini to Invest
During the 1 month experiment the Gemini Portfolio ended up returning a solid 10.18% which is more than double what the S&P 500 returned (4.5%).
This portfolio will continue to be active and tracked on the leaderboard page (once I get that up and running).
Every 1-2 months I will be asking Gemini to review and update the portfolio to reflect current market and company conditions. Stay Tuned for the same experiment with Grok AI and ChatGPT to see which AI you should trust.
